Hey Everyone,
So sorry that I have not blogged in forever. I have been having problems with my right knee since the beginning of March, and it has been getting progressively worse and worse. Every type of exercise hurts it, so I went to an orthopaedic surgeon at the beginning of May and found out that the cartilage in my knee is retorn and has caused cysts of fluid to build up inside my knee. Hence the horrible pain. So I am scheduled for surgery on June 13th to take out the torn cartilage.
My workouts in the meantime have been pretty boring. I can't do any type of exercise that puts weight on my right leg. I've incorporated some aqua jogging using the weight belt, dumbbells, and foot weights. I've been teaching some water aerobics classes. I've also been doing more pilates and yoga, especially using the BOSU, our newest toy in the studio!
My nutrition, however, has changed drastically. I am no long a dairy fiend! I have almost completely cut out dairy, with the exception of cheese cooked into foods occasionally. Cutting out the 32 ounces of milk a day I used to drink has made a huge difference. My whole body feels better, and the constant inflammation I used to feel is gone.
I have drastically increased the volume of fruits and vegetables in my diet. I have fallen in love with spinach, and eat it at almost every meal of the day. I sneak it in to egg white omelettes, protein smoothies, pastas... everything. And I'm on a hummus kick. I love the Red Bell Pepper Hummus. The biggest difference I've noticed is that my skin is softer and clearer than ever.
The final lifestyle change I've made is taking Juice Plus everyday. (Thanks Marisa!) My asthma no longer bothers me. If i take it regularly, I don't struggle with ezcema. And my energy level has drastically changed.
I promise to be more diligent at blogging. Please keep reminding me! Thanks for the inspiration Elizabeth!
